The Habitat Florida team is currently working with our affiliates to assess damage after Hurricane Milton as we simultaneously assist in recover from Hurricane Helene. It may take a few days to know the full extent of the damage and we will continue to share as we learn more.

Hurricane Helene made landfall around 11:10 p.m. EDT near the mouth of the Aucilla River in the Big Bend area of Florida’s Gulf Coast. It had maximum sustained winds estimated at 140 mph. That location was only about 20 miles northwest of where Hurricane Idalia came ashore last year at nearly the same ferocity and caused widespread damage, according to the National Hurricane Center.

We are currently facilitating a supply drive for Taylor County and are collecting monetary donations for our Disaster Resilience Fund. Along with Habitat for Humanity International, we plan to offer assistance to those in need of long-term housing solutions.
